7:20 pm: we will walk together into the lab. You will have a chance to visit a lab and ask the scientists everything you always wanted to know!

We will visit a cancer research lab at Stanford : The Dean Felsher Lab
Center for Clinical Sciences Research (CCSR Building)
The Felsher lab is working on figuring out the mechanisms by which tumors come back or spread to other parts of the body. They study models of liver, lung, kidney cancers, and lymphoma.They notably focus on developing new innovative therapies to prevent cancer recurrence.

Dr. Virginie Baylot
Postdoc at Stanford, Oncology department
Her work: Liver cancer is a top global health problem due to its high rate of mortality and increasing incidence. The lethality of this disease can be attributed to both its rapid progression to invasion and metastasis making it surgically unresectable as well as its generally poor response to existing therapies. My work in Felsher lab shows the causal role of macrophages in liver cancer progression, leading to novel therapeutic strategies to effectively treat liver cancer.
